The etiquette of saying "thank you"

It goes without saying that if someone has done something nice for you – whether that’s a lovely birthday gift they’ve sent, or organising that special party you attended – they should be shown some appreciation, and what better way to do this than with a thank you card?

With so many reasons to say thank you, it’s a good job that PuttyPrint have got such a huge range of thank you cards for you to choose from. Contrary to what the newspapers would sometimes have us believe, there are still lots of lovely people in the world, doing good deeds for others, whether that’s finding a super baby shower present, attending your wedding, sending a birthday gift for a youngster, or just supporting someone in their time of need, there are nice people out there who deserve a bit of recognition. A simple hand written thank you can make such a difference to someone who’s given up their time. Here’s a little etiquette advice for those thank you notes.

Obviously, you should get your thank you notes sent out to recipients as quickly as possible, ideally within a week of the party or event taking place. The hardest part is just finding five minutes to sit down and write the thank you cards, especially if you have a lot of thank you cards to send, but we find that once the first one is written, the rest are a breeze, and you’ll be through them in no time at all.

Should time have got away with you and you’ve not been as quick at sending out your thank you notes as you’d have liked, don’t worry – be honest in your letter, and make a brief apology. After all, as the saying goes, “Better late than never”. Don’t keep referring to your lateness though, or your recipient will feel like you were forced to write the thank you, which is not what you want at all!

If you’re looking for special thank you cards, or party invitations, remember that PuttyPrint have a fantastic selection which you can customise with your own message, and they can be with you the next working day, for those occasions when it’s really important to say thank you in a hurry.
