Celebrate International 'Something' Day

If you’ve ever struggled to come up with a theme for a party, we have a solution you can apply to any occasion. There are a variety of weird and wacky holidays and celebrations assigned to every day of the year – we suggest that if you’re truly stuck for ideas, you consult our dear friend Google to find out which special days fall on the date you intend to have your party. After all, what could be more fun than celebrating World Whisky Day and your birthday at the same time? Here are a few of our favourite upcoming celebrations, to get you started.

Fairy Day is fast approaching! Throw a fun, glittery party on 24th June to celebrate, and encourage guests of all ages to wear fairy wings in honour of the theme. Take the festivities outside if the weather will allow it; if not, decorate your home with glitter and bunting. Whatever you do, don’t skimp on the fairy cakes!

Saturday 2nd July is World UFO Day. Combine your birthday fete with a celebration of aliens and the conspiracies surrounding them. This theme is ideally suited to children who want to dress up as aliens and play party games, but is also perfect for adults. Play a selection of videos of UFO ‘sightings’ in the background, and let the weirdness ensue. You’re sure to have plenty of fascinating conversations.

Sunday 24th July is Tequila Day; this one isn’t exactly suitable for all ages, but promises buckets of fun for adults. Provide guests with a variety of tequila-based cocktails, and serve Mexican (or Tex-Mex) food such as enchiladas and tacos. If you’re looking for simplicity, nachos are a great option for snacking! Just be sure to have plenty of limes available for the party, as you don’t want a citrus crisis on your hands.

At Putty Print you’re sure to find a party invitation to suit and if you’re still not convinced that these themes are for you, head over to www.daysoftheyear.com for a browse. There are a truly impressive number of weird and wacky celebrations, and you’re sure to find one that suits you down to the ground. Your days of indecisive party planning are over!
