Two truths and a lie

Every person takes it in turns to tell three stories or facts about themselves. You can stick to a particular theme or not, depending on how many you have to tell. The only catch is that one of the stories or facts isn’t true - and everyone else has to guess which one it is.

Christmas gift wrap relay

Each team prepares their battle stations with wrapping paper, ribbons, scissors, boxes, cellotape and, of course, presents. Once the starting gun (or something a little less lethal) goes off, it’s a race to see who can wrap their gifts the quickest.

Carol quiz

A designated quizmaster runs through a list of famous Christmas songs and pulls out a random sentence from each. Everyone else splits into two teams and, after each sentence is read out, the first team to guess the song wins a point.

Snowball darts

Naturally, this game requires a bit of snow. Using food colouring, ketchup or whatever colourful sauce you have to hand, draw a bullseye in the garden outside. Then draw concentric circles on the inside and award different points for hitting each one.

Stocking guessing game

Each person fills a stocking with a few mystery items and passes it to the person sitting next to them. It’s then up to everyone to guess what’s in their new stocking.

Snowman wrapping contest

This one is definitely the silliest of the bunch, but is also virtually guaranteed to have everyone laughing. The game is simple - pick two people to stand with their arms by their sides, split the rest into two teams and give them all a lot of toilet paper. First team to fully “wrap” their player wins.
