A birthday party is a glittering occasion for any child. A fairy theme can spark the imagination of the whole family and best of all, it is so easy and inexpensive to accomplish!
If you're planning to invite boys along to the party, include pixies to add a little mischief to the magic.
Invitations
Get your party off to a flying start with themed printed invitations, and get the kids excited with a request to wear a fairy or pixie costume.
Having customised birthday party invitations printed and delivered is quick and easy online, like the fairy party invitations we offer at Putty Print. Just type in the details and let it fly off by First Class post to entice the guests. It’s so easy even a child can do it, and is affordable enough to leave plenty of the budget for party planning. Why not order thank you cards at the same time?
Fairy Décor
Indoors, set the mood with butterflies, greenery, artificial flowers, sparkle, confetti and pastel (lavender, pink, light blue) shades. If you’re lucky enough to have a summer party, create an outdoor fairyland with fairy lights, a bubble machine, and streamers hanging from trees. A fairy ring is essential, preferably made with 'toadstools' (toilet roll holders topped with cardboard domes and painted). Plant your birthday Fairy Queen in the middle of the ring to receive her guests and gifts.
Fairy Food
Fairy cakes (petits fours), decorated appropriately with edible glitter and coloured sugar crystals, are essential, as are jelly cups, made in small shot glasses, and fruit skewers. For savoury foods, cut sandwiches, filled with fruity jam, into star shapes with a cookie cutter and try to keep everything small and dainty; perhaps you could try mini pizzas? For the main event, craft or order a fairy castle cake for the birthday girl.
Games
It's all about adapting traditional fun to a fairytale environment: why not set up a colouring table with fairy pictures and crayons, or let the fairies decorate wands with stickers, glitter and gems? For those with energy to burn, musical chairs can be 'toadstool' chairs, whilst musical statues becomes the 'Fairy Freeze'.
