The Perfect Princess Party

Thanks to films like Frozen, Tangled and Cinderella, there’s never been a better time to become a princess in training, and with that comes great responsibilities, such as having the perfect birthday party fit for a princess, whether you’ve got the crown on your head now, or you’re still waiting for prince charming.

If you’re party planning for your princess, you might be wondering about how to occupy your royal visitors, so we’ve come up with some ideas for you.

Start with some princess themed party invitations. We sell a great selection at Putty Print, so you’re bound to find something fit for your princess. You can even customise them with your own details, such as the princess’s name, party times and locations, and in some cases, your own photographs.

Once you know how many to expect for the banquet, consider the celebration cake. Pinterest and Mumsnet have some great ideas for princess cakes: crown shapes, fondant decorated sponge, or even a cake shaped like a 3D castle if you’re a more adventurous cook. Don’t worry if you’re not the next Mary Berry – the supermarkets do a great range of celebration cakes for birthday parties.

Some of our favourite party games can be easily adapted for the princess theme. Here’s a list of some of our adapted favourites:

  • • Pin the jewel on the crown
  • • Musical thrones
  • • Treasure hunt
  • • Piñata bash
  • • Pass the parcel (with gold coins or sparkling “jewels” as prizes)

If you’re a fan of crafts, and brave enough to try it with lots of little princesses, get out the paints and glitter and decorate a cardboard crown. When the paint and glue has dried, you can have a Princess Fashion Parade, where everyone gets to show off their handiwork at the end of the party.

Rather stand well back? Some popular activities involve bringing in specialists. You can hire an actress as a Disney princess (Google for one near you, or ask on social media groups for recommendations), bring in a face painter to decorate your princesses with flowers and butterflies, or even book a pamper party so that the princesses can try nail polish and lip gloss.

Bouncier princesses might prefer a disco. One of our favourites is the bubble disco. It’s like a normal disco, but with bubble machines running throughout. If you’re technical, and have a bubble-safe space, you could even organise that with your own equipment.

When it’s all over, and your princess has returned to the quiet business of ruling her kingdom (or just the toys in her bedroom), get some lovely princess themed thank you notes, so that all the royal subjects who attended can be thanked for their gifts.

No matter what age she is, Putty Print would like to wish your princess a very happy birthday.
