Planning the perfect princess party

Every little girl dreams of being a princess and what better birthday gift than letting her be one for the whole day? No matter what your budget, there are lots of great ways to give your princess a truly royal celebration. Here are some ideas to make your princess party truly magical.

Princess style

Encourage all attendees to dress up as their favourite princess; have a little chat with the other parents to avoid having any double princess dramas and maybe have a spare princess dress in case any forget to dress up. Boys can be knights or princes. Let everyone know about the royal occasion with beautiful princess party invitations. If you're feeling brave, let the princesses give each other princess makeovers, with sparkly eyeshadows and lipgloss. A beautiful handheld mirror is a must.

Turn your space into a fairytale castle

Decorate the room with lots of pink balloons, sparkly garlands and pretty tablecloths. You can get some gorgeous personalised princess banners with the name of the birthday girl on. Encourage everyone to call her 'Your Highness' - it's just for one day!

Entertaining the little princesses

There are lots of party games you can add some princess magic to. Play pin the tail on the unicorn, for a little magical twist on the classic. Have a princess treasure hunt in the garden - hide some cheap jewellery around the house or in the garden (look in pound shops and charity shops) and let the princesses find their jewels, or play musical thrones, a royal version of musical chairs. If you need a quiet hour or two, pop on their favourite Disney film. Have cut-out tiaras to decorate with glitter and gems, if you're worried about the mess, just use stick-on pearls and rhinestones. You could also let the princesses make their own royal jewels to take home, with beads and string in all different shapes and colours.

Food fit for a princess

Make her a stunning princess castle cake, or you could always buy one! Have a princess picnic including pink cupcakes with crown toppers, afternoon tea style sandwiches, fresh fruit and iced gems.
