Children's birthday party planning can be hard - there's so much to do, what with food, party invitations, and keeping everyone amused for the full length of the party.
By the time they reach 10, every child has played musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey a thousand times. With that in mind, we have come up with a few original party games that all children will love.
Get the 20p
This one's great for summer. Put a 20p coin in each section of an ice cube box, then add water and a few drops of food colouring. At the party, give one ice cube to each child. The first child to get to the 20p coin is allowed to keep it. The idea is to get the children to come up with inventive ways of melting the ice.
Poker Face
The aim of this game is to make each other laugh or smile. One child volunteers to be Poker Face. Their challenge is to keep a straight face while all the other guests try to make them laugh. When they finally crack, they pass the Poker Face crown to the person who made them laugh, and the game continues!
Counting to 20
This remarkably simple game will have children laughing uncontrollably, and is a great way of filling a few minutes while they wait for their parents to pick them up. The challenge is to count to 20, with one child saying "one", followed by another saying "two", and so on. But if more than one child says a number, the counting must start again. It's harder than it sounds, and it should be interesting to see what strategies your guests come up with to solve the problem.
Eat the grapes
Place a plate of five grapes in front of each child. The challenge? To eat all five grapes - but with their hands behind their backs. Once a winner is announced, another round can be played with whipped cream squirted over the grapes. Guaranteed messy fun!
