Children are enchanted by everything that goes on under the sea (who doesn't love the Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo?) and a subterranean watery world can make for a great children’s party.
The theme lends itself to a number of crafts, even with larger groups or younger children, and many games can easily be adapted to fit an oceanic theme.
Invitations
First things first - get your invitations taken care of. We stock a great range of under the Sea Themed Party Invitations, whether your little one is into beautiful dolphins, colourful fish or scary sharks. All the templates can be fully customised with your details, and we even ship for next day delivery. This colourful example is our favourite.
Activities
If it’s a summer party you’re planning on having, make the most of the weather by letting the children have some fun with water! A ‘rescue relay’ is great fun – you will need some plastic fish, disposable cups and two buckets of water per team. Start with all the fish in one bucket, and place the other one a short distance away. Tell the children they have to rescue all their fish and transfer them to their other bucket using only the plastic cups. Each child takes a turn and the winners are the first to rescue all their fish. For extra fun, you could put holes in the bottom of the plastic cups!
As an alternative to pass the parcel, why not go fishing? Pass a small fishing net around the circle and when the music stops, the child uses it to scoop a prize out of a paddling pool. Musical starfish is a fun version of musical statues – everyone adopts a star pose and has to stay still.
Food
Why not partake in some ‘fish food’ for the birthday party tea? Themed tableware is readily available, and a quick way to theme your food is with a star shaped cookie cutter – watch their faces as they munch down on those starfish sandwiches! Green and blue jelly makes for a lovely sea themed pudding, and blue icing on the birthday cake gives them an ocean to decorate.
Have fun - we hope your under the sea party goes swimmingly!
